Since the launch of InBody BAND, the world’s first wearable body composition analyzer, InBody has been considered as a leader of overall health care specialized in smart trackers.
InBody BAND2, in particular, provides not only body composition analysis, but also heart rate measurement, sleep analysis, Easy Training function (12 movements automatically recognized and counted) and step tracking.
InBody started a service that optimizes InBody BAND 2 by actively utilizing its Big Data, which has been the global standard for body composition analyzers for the past 21 years. Based on the data of professional InBody devices, InBody offers a personal data optimization service.
Optimized results with professional devices
With the increasing demand of InBody from hospitals, fitness centers and even homes, InBody BAND2 is also being loved by many people. However, many concern the ‘accuracy’ due to the fundamental differences in the measurement mechanism between the BAND2 and professional devices.
Basically, in case of professional or household InBody devices, they follow InBody’s unique measurement method, Direct Segmental Measurement, also known as DSM-BIA. This means that it measures the body composition of each body segments. Two currents and voltage electrodes are placed on the left and right hands and feet to improve the accuracy and reproducibility of results.
Accurate Results with Data Integration
InBody BAND2 follows an algorithm that estimates the body composition value of the lower body from the body composition value of the upper body using a total of four electrodes, placing one current and one voltage on the wrist. Simply put, the BAND2 estimated the lower body impedance value based on the upper body impedance value using its big data system.
As for a balanced body type, the output would be relatively accurate. However, it is limited to gain an accurate output for those with an imbalanced upper and lower body type, such as a soccer player with excessive leg muscle mass or a patient who recently got a knee surgery.
In order to compensate for this problem and provide more accurate results, we offer the data optimization service that interlocks the Professional InBody data and InBody BAND2 data.
If you measure with the InBody BAND2 within 2 hours after taking the InBody test, data optimization will be performed through the InBody APP. After optimization, the more accurate result from the professional InBody will be confirmed from the InBody BAND2 and with the modified algorithm is applied.
